Gene Hall Sr.

Gene Hopkins Hall, Sr., 79, of Red Oak, VA, departed this life on August 24, 2012. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Mary Ellen, a daughter, Marilyn Hall Gibson and her husband, Douglas of Halifax, two sons, Gene Hopkins Hall, Jr. and his wife, Sarah of Clarksville, and Edward Wayne Hall, and his wife, Madonna of Red Oak. Mr. Hall is also survived by seven grandchildren, Christopher Monroe Gibson and his wife, Natalie, Kristina Gibson Coates and her husband, Andrew, Michelle Wilson Wood and her husband, Nathan, Derek Wayne Hall, Katlyn Michelle Hall, Marc Edward Hall, and Nickolas Christian Hall, three great-grandchildren, Tyler Preston Riggins, Maddy Grace Wood, and Stella Jane Gibson, as well as a sister, Edna Hall Carmody. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wyatt Edward Hall and Hester Jeter Hall, two brothers, Edward Nelson Hall and Wilbur Sinclair Hall, and one sister, Mildred Hall Priddy.
Mr. Hall was a tobacco farmer, cattlemen, and owner and operator of the former New Farmers Tobacco Warehouse in Clarksville, VA. He was a charter member of the Bacon District Fire Department, and a lifetime member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee and Deacon.
The family will receive friends at Antioch, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2012. Funeral services will be held at Antioch Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2012 with interment following at Public Fork Christian Church cemetery.
