Mary Thorpe

Mary Newcomb Thorpe, 91, of Chase City, Virginia, passed away on September 4, 2012. She was born on March 19, 1921 to the late Eddie and Lettie Newcomb. She is survived by one son, Ray Tharpe of Chase City, VA, three sisters, Thelma Bailey of Chase City, VA, Lillian Card of Chase City, VA, and Audrey Bailey of Wylliesburg, VA, three brothers, Clifton Newcomb of Chase City, VA, Clyde Newcomb of Saxe, VA, and Harvey Newcomb of Charlotte County, VA, two grandchildren, Kevin Tharpe and Angie, and Cheslie Tharpe, one great-grandchild, Makayla Tharpe, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Berkley Thorpe, and one sister, Alma Newcomb Tharpe. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Public Fork Christian Church with Reverend Rodney Barwick officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Charlotte County Rescue Squad. Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
