Woodrow Oliver Kennedy, 86, of Chase City, Virginia passed away on April 24, 2014. He was born on December 3, 1927 in Richmond, Virginia to the late William and Alberta Kennedy. He is survived by his daughter Melinda K. Thompson of Chase City, VA, five sisters, Gladys Payne, Hattie Bailey, Margie Gilliland, Verna Mae Hanks and Diane Seamster, and one brother, Franklin Kennedy all of Victoria, VA. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Shelby Hayes, Mendy Schutt, Tricia Hicks, and Kristoffer Kizer, five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and his devoted friend, Sylvia Riggins. He is predeceased by his wife June Joyce Kennedy, his daughter, Sandra Joyce Kizer, four brothers and three sisters. Mr. Kennedy was a World War II Army Veteran and a sheet metal roofing contractor. Woodrow enjoyed farming and he loved his livestock. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home chapel. Inurnment will follow at Hebron United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
