Charlie Lankford

Charlie Nelson Lankford, 98, of Chase City, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. He was born on September 20, 1916 in Edenton, Georgia to the late Pozie Lankford and the late Susie Bennett Lankford. He is survived by his son, Jack Edmond Lankford and his wife, Betsy, one brother, Hugh Lankford, four grandchildren, Sherry Spencer, Jean Dellinger, Amanda Watkins, Darrell Lankford, twelve great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Lankford is predeceased by his wife, Martha Thorpe Lankford and two sons, Ken Lankford and Gordon Lankford. He retired from Estes Trucking after 55 years. Charlie is a member of the Chase City Seventh-day Adventist Church. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home chapel. Entombment will follow at the Woodland Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chase City Seventh-day Adventist Church, 16 N Marshall St., Chase City, VA 23924.
