Earnest Bailey

A. Earnest Bailey, 92, of Fort Mitchell, Virginia passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015. He was born on July 30, 1922 in Charlotte County, VA to the late Jasper Hinton Bailey and the late Nannie Glidewell Bailey. Earnest is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Owen Bailey, two sons, Bobby Bailey and David Bailey and his wife, Karon, one daughter, Donna Phillips and her husband, Bobby, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Curtis Bailey, one sister, Frances B. Thompson and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by five brothers, Clarence Bailey, Charlie Bailey, James Bailey, Edward Bailey, and Milton Bailey and three sisters, Nellie Newcomb, Harriet Wilmoth, and Etna Lenhart. Mr. Bailey is a World War II Army Veteran and a retired Correctional Officer. He is a member of Salem Christian Church, American Legion Post 43, and a founding member of Arrowhead Gun Club. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 23, 2015 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow at Salem Christian Church cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post 43. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Halifax Regional Hospice, Veterans Administration, or a charity of your choice.
