Naomi Jones

Naomi Lacks Jones, 86, of Red Oak, Virginia passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015. She was born on May 3, 1928 in Charlotte County, Virginia to the late Charlie Edward Lacks and the late Jesse Newcomb Lacks. She is survived by her daughters, Gail J. Owen of Chase City, Bonnie J. Royster and her husband Wiley of Drakes Branch, Rita L. Duffey and her husband L.B. of Saxe, and Sherry J. Allgood and her husband Roy of Red Oak, ten grandchildren, Wendy Bohannon, Pamela Shores, Travis Francisco, Tiffany Berkley, Jason Allgood, Ashley Woodson, Jeff Duffey, Julie Newman, Lee Allgood, Tammy Resendac, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Dunaway of Keysville and Nancy Newcomb of Saxe, one brother, Wiley Lacks of Clover and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jones is predeceased by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Jones, seven brothers and four sisters. Naomi is a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Drakes Branch and she retired as the owner and operator of Jones Grocery. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 23, 2015 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Wylliesburg Presbyterian Church cemetery.
