Roxie Jean Inge Brewer, widow of Allison Merton Brewer, died at the age of 94 on October 13, 2016. She was a dedicated and loyal member of Concord Baptist Church where she served in various roles including Sunday School Teacher, Women’s Missionary Union member and Hospitality Committee member. Over the years, she derived a special joy and made precious memories while working with the children in her many Sun Beam groups. Mrs. Brewer had a great compassion for others, evidenced by the many sick and elderly she cared for during her lifetime. Mrs. Brewer joined the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 147 in December 1957 and served as Worthy Matron on eight different occasions. Mrs. Brewer is survived by one sister, Gloria I. Matthews of Chase City and one sister-in-law, Reba G. Inge also of Chase City. While having no children, “Aunt Roxie” served as surrogate mother to fourteen nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by, her parents, Emma and Lewis Inge; her twin Richard M. Inge; and brothers Roy Inge, and Nelson Inge. She is also predeceased by sisters, Myrtle Fox, Hazel Champion and Ruth Jones. Friends may call at Concord Baptist Church, Hwy. 47, Chase City at 10 a.m., on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Reverend John Mann officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
