Marion Owen

Marion Wister Owen, age 83, of Chase City, VA, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018. He was born June 27, 1934 in Mecklenburg County, VA to the late Willie Waverly Owen and the late Effie Harris Owen.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Chase City, VA, a United States Army Veteran and a member of American Legion Post 43. Marion was the dispatcher for the Town of Chase City for 25 years and a member of the Chase City Volunteer Fire Department for 27 years.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alexis Owen; four brothers, Lewis Owen, Vic Owen, Harvey Owen, and Jack Owen; and two sisters, Marguerite Owen Barker and Jena Owen Moore.

Marion is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris Toombs Owen; two sons, Mark Owen and Paul Owen and wife, Tina; two daughters, Hope Franklin and husband, Todd and Melanie Ellis and husband, Dink; and ten grandchildren, David Owen and wife, Kelsey, Matthew Owen and wife, Caroline, Amillyon Owen, Alyson Franklin, Kelsey Franklin, Kristyn Owen, Cameron Owen, Josh Ellis, Zach Ellis, and Madisyn Ellis. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Joyce Owen and Irene Owen and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post 43.
