Ida Estelle “Peggy” Flythe Brame, age 105, of Chase City, Va passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019. She was born August 21, 1913 in Portsmouth, Va and grew up in Emporia, Va. She was the daughter of the late Jefferson Thomas "Fred" Flythe and the late Stella Bishop Flythe.

She was a proud graduate of Johnston Willis School of Nursing in Richmond. Peggy was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Chase City. She was also a charter member of the Women’s Club of Chase City, the Mecklenburg Spring Club, and the Mary Wood Garden Club. She grew and loved flowers of all kinds, but Daffodils were her favorite. She always enjoyed hand making Christmas ornaments for the church’s Chrismon Tree. On her 100th birthday, The Town of Chase City declared August 21st as “Peggy Brame Day.”

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Marshall Brame; nephew, Donald Neil Belote; and sister-in-law, Mary Brame Edwards.

Peggy is survived by her nieces and nephews, Martha Edwards Culpepper of Richmond, Va, Lee Edwards of Poquoson, Va, Mary Edwards Owen of Fork Union, Va, Roger Flythe of Silver City, NM, James Belote of Morganton, NC, and Joyce S. Belote of Newport News, Va; her long-time companion and friend, Emma Long; and her caregivers, Evette Brooks, Tameka Ashe, and Jennifer Pulliam.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Centenary United Methodist Church with Reverend Larry Lehman and Reverend Mike West officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Chase City, Va. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service in the church.
