Betty Owen Leeson

Richmond, Virginia

It is with both sadness and hope in the promise of eternal life that we announce the passing of Betty Owen Leeson, who went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 14, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on February 21, 1936, in Chase City, Virginia, Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was marked by faith, selflessness, and devotion to her family. 

Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband, Henry Leeson; her parents, Alfred and Lona Owen; her brothers, James, Dan, Frank, and Marvin Owen; her sisters, Thelma Brankley and Dorothy Wallace; and her son, Chris Leeson. 

She is survived by her children, Debbie Strickler (Ken), Carol Ann Forlines (Mark), and Ted Leeson (Tamara); her daughter-in-law, Bena Leeson; grandchildren, Josh Strickler (Michael Hester), Brent Strickler (Nicole), Kelly Strickler, Ryan Leeson (Mandy), Andrew Leeson, Reid Leeson (Mary), Blair Grubb (Sam), Blake Forlines (Krista), Dylan Forlines, Dane Forlines (Katherine), Olivia Leeson and Luke Leeson; 9 great-grandchildren; and her brother-in-law, John Leeson. Betty’s greatest joy was her family, and she always put their needs before her own, living as a steadfast example of love and grace.

For over 60 years, Betty was a faithful member of Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church. Her gentle spirit and kindness to others will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

A service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel in Chase City, Virginia. She will be laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery in Chase City.

Betty’s legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire her family and friends. She is now reunited with her loved ones in Heaven, resting in eternal peace in the arms of Jesus Christ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s memory to Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church, 2300 Dumbarton Rd. Richmond Va 23228.
