Elsie A. Fox

Elsie Allgood Fox, 84, of Chase City, Virginia passed away Monday, January 29, 2024. She was born March 15, 1939 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Henry Edward Allgood and Gertie Bowman Allgood. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Cole Fox and her dear friends, JoAnne Turner and Frances Kindley. 

Elsie is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Fox Lester (Marshall Tuck) of Chase City; two grandsons, C. Christopher Williams (Kelsey Bagwell) of Chase City and Jacob Austin Lester of South Hill; and great-grandchildren, Christopher Cole Williams, Christian Cooper Williams, and Ryleigh Brewer. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Allgood Lenning (David) of Longs, South Carolina and brother, William Edward “Bill” Allgood of Boydton. 

Elsie was a devoted member of Concord Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, taking trips, and watching Duke Basketball. She was an employee for Mecklenburg County School Board for 42 years. 

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 2, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Chase City. Following the interment, a reception will be held at the Concord Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
