Joyce Lee “Peggy” Jones

Joyce Lee “Peggy” Jones, 101, of Red Oak, Virginia passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026. She was born December 2, 1924 and is the daughter of the late Leonard Joseph Lee and the late Elva Haughton Clark. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Hines Jones; sisters, Annie Miller and Louise Barkman; and brother, Curtis Lee.

Peggy is survived by her son, Wayne Jones of Midlothian; her daughter, Phyllis Jones Dickenson of Red Oak; grandchildren, Rhonda, Melissa, Brian (Andria), and Robbie (Amber); great-grandchildren, Shauna (Neil), Rachel (C.W.), Georgiana, Madison, Morgan, and Aaron; and great-great-grandchildren, Gavin, Bailey, Wilton, Henry, and Ruby. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews; her special friend, Mary Ellen Hall; and devoted caregivers, Barbie Goode and Mae Puryear. The family also wishes to recognize and sincerely thank Penelope and Nene with Sentara Halifax Hospice. 

She was a longtime member of Antioch Baptist Church where she loved to sing in the choir. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, word search and crossword puzzles, and she loved staying on the go. She had a great sense of humor and if something was on her mind, she was going to say it. She loved her family and enjoyed when they would visit. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with Pastor Kristen White officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
