Larry Dean Smith

Larry Dean Smith, 75, of Chase City, Virginia passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2026. He was born September 29, 1950 and is the son of the late Dewey Howard “Dudley” Smith and the late Eva Mae Wilbourne Smith. 

Larry is survived by his son, Barry Dean Smith (Heather) of Danville; grandsons, Evan Tyler Smith, Oliver Kincade Smith, and Greyson Ray Jarrells; and his special companion for 25 years, Pamela Dearman Williams. He is also survived by his brothers and sister, Danny Smith (Joan), Gene Smith (Jackie), Donnie Smith, Paul Smith (Fran) and Deborah Smith Rickman (Steve); mother of his son, Iris Lacks Weston; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. 

Larry was a Lineman Foreman for Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative for over 35 years until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and was a long time member of Trottinridge Hunt Club. He loved to tinker with vehicles with his son and grandsons and riding his motorcycle. Larry was very kind and sentimental, especially when it came to picking out specific cards for special occasions for his family. Above all, Larry cherished his son and grandsons. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Skipwith, Virginia. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
