Lawrence “Newky” Linwood Newcomb, Jr., 70, of Chase City, VA went to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 7, 2024. He was born May 22, 1953 to the late Billy & Eleanor Newcomb.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Henry Edward Carter and Mary Cottrell Carter and his nephew, Curtis Rickman.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Sylvia Carter Newcomb; son, Andy Newcomb (Julie) of Greensboro, NC, daughter, Jennifer Moore (Glen) of Danville, VA, and his grandchildren, Liv Newcomb, Chase Moore and Carter Moore. He is also survived by his brother and sisters; Stevie Newcomb (Carole), Susan Snead (Bobby), and Kathy Rickman; sister-in-law, Brenda Gill (Will), brother-in-law, Marty Carter (Janet); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He worked at Butler Lumber Company for 30 years until he retired. He loved spending time with family, especially his most prized possessions, his grandchildren. He also loved watching westerns, planting and raising multiple gardens, taking his rides to town, and taking nature walks through the woods.
The family will receive family and friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home and all other times at his residence, 2236 Airport Rd, Chase City, VA 23924. Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
