Lois Robbins Gwaltney

Lois Ann Robbins Gwaltney, 88, of Chase City, Virginia passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026 at her home. She was born July 29, 1937 in Charlotte County, Virginia and is the daughter of the late Carl Robbins and the late Pauline Newcomb Robbins.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Howard Lyttle Gwaltney; daughter, Debra Lynn Gwaltney; granddaughter, Holly Nichole Bratten; and her brothers and sisters, Dorothy Rickman, Isabelle Guthrie, C.L. Robbins, Charles "Buddy" Robbins, Gene Robbins, and Betty Dale McGee.

Lois is survived by her two granddaughters, Lindsey Dillion (Mike) and Heather Melton; four great-grandchildren, Audrey Nichole Murray, Michael Adam Dillion, Parker Aaron Dillion, and Bennett Austin Dillion; nephew, M.D. Guthrie (Peggy); numerous other nieces and nephews, and her special friends, Margaret Allgood, Judy Townsend (Ken), and Margaret Tharpe. 

She retired from Parker Oil Company as a Bookkeeper. Lois was a devoted Christian and a member of Concord Baptist Church in Chase City. She always enjoyed traveling with Howard and together they visited all 50 states. She loved to go to yard sales and was an avid collector of depression glass, porcelain dolls, cabbage patch dolls and other treasures. She enjoyed working in her yard and cooking, especially cooking with her great-grandchildren. Lois loved to get together with her friends and was very devoted to her family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe McDowell officiating. Entombment will follow at the Woodland Mausoleum in Chase City.
