Matthew David Hash, 33, of Skipwith, Virginia passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025. He was born in Danville, Virginia on December 19, 1991.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bill and Geraldine Hash; maternal grandparents, Robert Lee and Maxine Jackson; and his cousin, Jason Jackson.
Matthew is survived by his daughter, McKinley Paige Hash; his parents, William David Hash and Patricia Jackson Hash of Skipwith; sister, Skylar Lynn Hash (W.A. Newcomb) of Nashville, TN; aunts and uncles, Robert L. Jackson, Jr. (Laura), Timothy Mark Jackson (Becky), Kenneth Jackson (Peggy), Linda Hash Lacks (Larry), and Brenda Hash Hamlett (Floyd); and cousins, Joshua Jackson, Zachary Jackson, Jennifer Jackson, Jessica Jackson, Chris Powell, Amy Hamlett, Logan Lacks, Kenneth Ivey, and Tonya Zitvogel. He is also survived by his long time friends, Jody Williams, Michael Taylor, Jake Moore, Edmund Murray, Jacob Lawson, Kurt Royster, and Timmy Spain and his special work friends, Aaron Totten, Dustin Elsaesser, and Barry Whirley.
Matthew was a Bluestone Senior High School Graduate Class of 2010 and also attended Southside Virginia Community College. He was a former Lineman and General Foreman for Richardson-Wayland Electrical Company and New River Electrical Corporation. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 70. Matthew was a very hard worker and traveled out of town a lot for his jobs. He loved playing baseball, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, skeet shooting, and riding ATVs. He always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, entertaining, and cooking. If you knew Matthew, you knew one of his greatest passions was the South Central Fair Demolition Derby. One of his most recent favorite pastimes was hanging out and playing the video game Fortnite with McKinley. He was a kind and loving father, son, brother and friend.
A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Herman Newcomb will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the gravesite.
