Montie Ruth Bruce Nichols, age 93, of Chase City, Virginia passed away November 11, 2022. She was born August 7, 1929 in Boydton, Virginia to the late Boyce Monroe Bruce and the late Nellie Shipman Bruce.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hudson Nichols; three children, James Edward Nichols, Kathy Diane Parker, and William David Nichols; sister, Faye Carter; and brothers, Paul Bruce and Sherrill Bruce.
Montie is survived by seven children, John Nichols (Patty) of Danville, VA, Brenda Gholson of Chase City, VA, Virginia Hendrick (Wayne) of South Hill, VA, Shirley Ashworth of Chase City, VA, Karen Pennington (Pete) of Keysville, VA, Tommy Nichols (Rhonda) of South Hill, VA, and Norman Nichols of Chase City, VA; grandchildren, Brian Nichols, Jeff Nichols, Becky Nobles, Carol Barber, Scooter Ashworth, Ashley Pennington, Monica Brady, Angie Grant, T.J. Nichols, Joseph Nichols, and Thomas Allen; and twenty great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Williams and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Montie was a Seamstress/Factory Worker for majority of her life until retirement. She was a wonderful gardener and loved her flowers the most. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend to everyone she met and never mistreated anyone. She was the oldest member of The Church of God in Chase City.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 14, 2022 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at 2:15 p.m. at Woodland Cemetery in Chase City. The family will receive friends at all other times at the home, 78 Twin Drive, Chase City, VA 23924.
