Paige Allen

Garland Paige Allen, 81, of Skipwith, Virginia passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024. He was born September 15, 1943 in Portsmouth, Virginia and was the son of the late Garland Allen and the late Trentice Moss Allen. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Wootton Allen and sons-in-law, Paul Owen and James Bowers. 

Paige is survived by his daughter, Tina Allen Thompson (Michael); step-daughter, Ann Bowers; grandchildren, Kristyn Chapman (Chris), Cameron Owen, and Brandi Singleton; and great-grandchildren, Brennan Chapman, Madison Shelton, and Maci Shelton. 

He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Skipwith and a retired farmer and Rural Mail Carrier. Paige was an avid fox hunter and former President of the Southeastern Night Fox Hunters Association and the Virginia State Fox Hunters Association. He was also the Secretary of the Mecklenburg County Fox Hunters Association and was an instrumental part of establishing the Virginia Fox Hunting License Plate. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with Pastor Herman Newcomb and Pastor Randy Pittman officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery (123 Rocky Mount Road, Skipwith, Va 23968).

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church and all other times at Paige’s home. 

The family wishes to give a sincere thank you to his caregivers for their compassion and care: Patricia Dodson, Bitzy Taylor, Rhonda Duffer, Sandra Inge, April Williams, Melvina Wright, Misty Carnes, and Georgia Mae Mosley; and a special thank you to 1st Care At Home Hospice. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Paige’s memory may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund (2526 New Hope Road, Skipwith, VA 23968) or Trinity Cemetery Association (c/o Gray Moss, 4378 Wilbourne Road, Skipwith, VA 23968).
