Roy Daniel Allgood

Roy Daniel Allgood, 72, of Red Oak, Virginia passed away Friday, April 17, 2026. He was born in Norlina, North Carolina on December 2, 1953 and is the son of the late Annie Laura “Peggy” Darnell Allgood and the late Benjamin Franklin Allgood, Jr. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Kacey Moss and brothers and sisters, Billy Wayne Allgood, Lucy Diane Allgood, Essie Lee Satterwhite, Allen Gray Allgood, Alice Marie Allgood and Ruby Ilene Allgood. 

Roy is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Jones Allgood; his children, Lee Roy Allgood (Crystal) of Henderson, NC, Tammy Resendiz (Carlos) of Henderson, NC, Ashley Woodson of Red Oak, Jason Allgood (Sabrina) of Red Oak, and Gavin Valania (Savannah); grandchildren, Tiffany Allgood, Brandon Lee Allgood, Gabriella Resendiz, Itzayana Resendiz, Jaxon Allgood, Sutton Allgood, Naomi Allgood, and Raelynn Allgood; and great-grandson, Owen Lilley. He is also survived by his brother, Benjamin Allgood; sister, Carrie Mae Cheaves; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Royster (Wiley), Gail Owen, and Rita Duffey (L.B.); numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Kenny Moore and Kenneth Toombs. 

Roy was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, riding his tractor, cutting hay, and piddling in his shop. Roy dearly loved his family and spending time with them. 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ralph Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
