Thelma Mae Newcomb Bailey, 93, of Chase City, Virginia passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026. She was born in Saxe, Virginia on August 20, 1932 and is the daughter of the late Eddie M. Newcomb and the late Lettie Mae Skelton Newcomb.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Lee Bailey, Sr.; her son, Randall E. Bailey; brothers, Clifton Newcomb, Harvey Newcomb, Sr., and Clyde Newcomb; and sisters, Mary Tharpe and Alma Tharpe.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Joan Bailey of Drakes Branch; her son, C. Lee Bailey, Jr. (Gabriel A. Smith) of Orlando, FL; granddaughter, Katrina Burch (Tim Burch); and great-grandchildren, MaKayla Morris (Thomas Morris), Morgan Burch (Brittney Lytton-Lovern), and Kade Burch. She is also survived by her sisters, Audrey Bailey and Lillian Card; special niece, Kay Moore; special friends, Mike, Darlene, Ann, and Rhonda; and numerous other nieces, nephews and family members.
Thelma was a member of First Baptist Church in Chase City and a former member of the Chase City Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary where she served as president. She enjoyed playing Bingo and slot machines. She was an amazing woman and very outspoken. Thelma enjoyed Christmas, gatherings, and she loved her family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Woodland Mausoleum in Chase City.
